Sound Cedar Lumber, a Cedar specialty store, was founded in 1980 in Downtown Conway. Over the years, it has moved a few times before moving to our present location at 2600 Cedardale Road in Mount Vernon. We have currently been at this location for over 20 years and love our spot right off I-5.

In 2018, after working at Sound Cedar Lumber for 12 years, Robert Desmarais bought the business from the original owners. With the help of his family, his hard-working crew, and an amazing community, Robert has transformed the store into not only a cedar specialty store, but a lot more as well. Since 2018 we have added about 6 times the inventory of the previous owners and have added many more product lines including composite decking and cement board siding.

Our 8,000 sq ft showroom and 14,000 sq ft warehouse are stocked full of just about everything you need to finish your next project. We know time is money for our customers, so we always do our best to have as much on hand as we can to get you out the door and back to your job site! From fasteners, stain and hardware to timbers, siding, metal roofing and more, we’ve got you covered.

We are fortunate to have an excellent and knowledgeable crew helping us on the front lines and behind the scenes. Our sales crew have extensive knowledge in construction and can help educate our customers on products from both a dealer and personal-use perspective. Out in the warehouse you’ll find employees who have been here for over 20 years! Everyone’s experiences and skills keep us working like a well-oiled machine.

Showroom is clean and well-lit, with lots of items on display.  Can't beat the cedar aroma when you walk in!  Nathan was prompt in replying to phone calls and emails.  The delivery driver, Frank, was friendly and helpful in unloading all the materials where I wanted them.  I will for sure be giving Sound Cedar more business in the future.  5 stars plus!

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I paid for tight knot and did not receive tight knot cedar 2x6s.  After emailing the owner of Sound Cedar pictures of cedar boards showing knots over 3 inches he said I should contact the Canadian lumber mill where he bought them.  Needless to say, this did not sit well with me and I insisted on replacements.   The Sound Cedar owner required I pay a $100 delivery fee, which I was forced to pay IMO, to replace the boards.     Attached are pictures of the NOT tight knot lumber they delivered when I was not at my house Don’t get cheated by the owner of this company

Ordered a ton of jumbo split rails for fencing project, company clearly expert with cedar products compared to competition, fairly priced, delivered within a week to the San Juans. Nick quickly helped me with the design, calculated all the necessary materials, including cement, and they held the materials for over a month till I was ready for it to be delivered. Each item was less expensive than a big box stores version of a lesser quality item. After a measurement error on my part (4x4 posts are not 4 inches wide 🤭) they even bought back some of the boards in exchange for longer ones. Every interaction I’ve had has been quick and pleasant, and always comes with a Rice Krispies treat. I will definitely be coming back for all my future lumbar projects.
