Experience the Innovative Performance of Modified Wood

What is Modified Wood, and Why Should You Use It?

Modified wood has become increasingly popular in the lumber industry over the past few years as a sustainable and eco-friendly material. Standard timber undergoes one (or more) modification processes that alter its characteristics to enhance its durability. This leaves the customer with a product that is stronger, longer lasting, and much more resistant to environmental factors.

To achieve their final product, companies submit their timber to either a thermal or chemical modification process. These processes use natural products and avoid the use of harsh chemicals, creating a safer end result. Whether thermally or chemically processed, customers purchase modified wood for benefits like:

  • Durability
  • Sustainability
  • Performance in any type of climate
  • Moisture Resistance
  • Insect and pest resistance
  • Resistance to fungus, rot and mold
  • Low maintenance
  • Offers advantages of standard wood
  • Eco-friendly

Modified wood is most often used as decking and outdoor flooring. Many companies offer lines specifically designed for other applications such as exterior cladding and siding, interior wall paneling, sauna construction, window and door frames and more.
